The proud Dragonborn race were nearly wiped out of existence during the Red Hand war but still a few tribese remain in Elsir Vale. Many different tribes occupy the Elsir Vale in different regions. The biggest one, the Stormrage barbarian tribe is located in the Endless Plains and it is there that Balasar the Thunderborn is from. Balasar received the title Thunderborn as he was born during a thunder storm which is a good sign from their god. The Stormrage tribe worships Kord, God of storms and battle. A Stormrage barbarian in rage is known to be like a thunder storm. Balasar is a mighty barbarian who loves fighting, nature, and his tribe. He never runs from battle and always charges in head first regardless of the enemies numbers.

Balasar was trained as a barbarian from the age of 3 as are all Stormrage barbarians, he is most proficient in axes and they are always his weapon of choice. As a young barbarian he caught the eye of Chieftain Torinn, head of the Stormrage tribe and most honored Dragonborn barbarian. Chieftain Torinn took Balasar under his wing and taught him the ways of the barbarian. All Dragonborns are considered adults at the age of 15. At this age, Stormrage barbarians are taken out to dangerous parts of the Endless Plains and left there to find their way back home and to prove themselves as Stormrage barbarians. This is a grueling task as they are only left with a weapon of their choice, flint, and a bedroll. They have to return to the village by the 7th day by midday. Those who return are worthy to be called barbarian and now have a status ranking within the tribe. Those who also make it prove they have trained in the barbarian ways fully, as they have the nature, endurance, and surviving skills needed by a barbarian. Those who do not make it are dishonored and have one more chance to to regain their honor by dueling a barbarian of the Chieftain’s choice. Those who win get another chance to take the Trial and those who don’t are usually dead from the duel anyways to really get another chance.

Balasar is loyal and friendly to others and is well liked by most of his fellow tribesman. Some do not like him due to his treatment from the Chieftain but respect his fighting prowess. He is always honorable when it comes to dealing with matters as it is the Dragonborn way. Honor, loyalty, and respect towards opponents, fellow combatants, and nature are always expected from a Dragonborn. Those who show cowardice or disloyalty are shunned by the Dragonborns and usually banished from their tribe. Those who break oaths are hated by Dragonborns and Balasar does not take breaking oaths lightly.

All barbarians are taught to love nature as it provides for them and also gives them their primal power. Balasar does not hate the civilization’s effect on nature as he knows that is the way of things. He doesn’t like it but he knows that there is nothing that can be done about it as the world always changes and he knows he does not have the power to stop it.

At the age of 25, Balasar had it all in his tribe. He was well respected as a barbarian and Dragonborn. Ranked high in the tribes order and was loved by many of his fellow Dragonborns but one fateful day ruined that all. Balasar was banished from the tribe, he broke one of the tribes highest laws, he was found guilty of killing an unarmed tribesman by a cowardly way. Balasar was found at the scene with the bloody weapon in his hand and the body of the victim. The scene showed no signs of a dual or struggle and the murdered Dragonborn was stabbed from behind, a cowardly way to kill a person if you are a Dragonborn. In Stormrage law, an act like this is considered the highest treason so the Chieftain had no choice to banish Balasar from the tribe. Now dishonored and banished from his tribe, he decided to travel to Overlook to join the army to try and regain his honor. The Stormrage tribe believe that being victorious in many battles shows true honor. When he was banished from the tribe, all Balasar had was his trusty two-handed axe, clothes, some rations and a little gold he saved up. Being broke lead him to joining the army for the pay as he saw it the only way to make gold to live as he is great at fighting. Unknown to the rest of the tribe, Balasar was framed for the murder by a member of the Stormrage tribe.

1) First and foremost he wants to gain his honor back and get unbanished from his tribe.

2) Kill the man who framed him.

Ties to Elsir Vale
Was born here as his tribe is located out in the wild areas of Elsir Vale.

You’ll find out.

Tied to any group members
He was assigned to their group as he is a good fighter and the group needed a good striker.

Balasar is a tall 6’ 8”, 300 lbs. of lean muscle. His scales are golden and has many battle scars on his body from all the encounters he has. He has a sort of metallic sheen to his scales that is unusual in dragonborns. Those who have seen Balasar fight say when he goes into his barbarian rage its like the fury of a thousand storms and nothing can stand in his way.
